Psalm 23

KJV Paraphrase
1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 1. The Lord is my shepherd, guiding and caring for me; I lack nothing I truly need.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 2. He gives me rest in peaceful, nourishing places and leads me to calm and refreshing waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 3. He renews my strength and leads me in the right way, bringing honor to His name.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 4. Even when I walk through the darkest and most dangerous valleys, I will not be afraid, because You are with me; Your protection and guidance give me comfort.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 5. You provide for me abundantly, even in the presence of those who oppose me; You honor and bless me, and my life overflows with Your goodness.
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. 6. Your goodness and faithful love will remain with me all my life, and I will live in Your presence forever.
