Faith is tightly bound with spiritual authority. If you have little faith, you will have little authority. If you have great faith you will have great authority.
Take a look at this scriptural passage in Matthew, chapter 8:
5 ¶ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
The centurion understood faith because he understood authority. He knew all this because he was able to do the same thing in his own small arena of empowerment.
When the centurion spoke, people scrambled to fulfill his commands. Knowing this, he was able to deduce that Jesus, being the Son of God, had all authority and that all He would have to do was speak a word and heaven and earth, yea, even nature itself, would obey Him.
He would have whatever He desired. Jesus marveled at the centurion’s faith.
Jesus proclaimed to us that we could walk in the power of that same faith, didn’t He?
Matthew 17:20 …. for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
When we walk in faith, we can simply trample over the devil and his traps, snares, and devices. Look at this passage in Luke 10:
17 ¶ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
So when we walk by faith we walk in this power over the enemy.
But Satan will not easily relinquish his hold on authority. Before Christ came, the devil had complete control over most of humanity, except for those sparse few whom God had enlightened.
But when Christ came, He destroyed the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) and stripped him of all power and authority:
John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
Satan has been stripped of all authority and made into a usurper. The only authority he now holds onto, he does so illegally! He is not authorized to maintain it.
He has been kicked off the throne of the kingdom and we, in Christ, have been placed there instead! This is an amazing revelation.
