Even as the devil is busy accusing you to God, the angels, the church and the world, he is also working subtly to defame God to you by distorting the character of God in your estimation.
We see this in the very beginning of human history when Satan maligned God to Eve and tricked her into eating the forbidden fruit. In Genesis 3:1-5 we see a verbal exchange between the devil and Eve:
3 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made...
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.”
5 “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened...”
Here we see how the devil distorts the truth about God to Eve. God had revealed that she would surely die, yet the devil accused God of lying.
He further slandered God by suggesting that God was withholding something good from them.
Just as he did with Eve, the devil works diligently to malign God’s character in our minds. We must guard against this.
In your heart, how do you see God? Is He a loving Father or a harsh taskmaster? Is He near, or distant? Is He compassionate or indifferent?
Our concept of God directly impacts our faith. If we see Him as harsh or unwilling, we will not boldly approach Him.
Many believe God gives grudgingly or desires their suffering. But scripture teaches otherwise.
Hebrews 11:6 says:
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
If you don’t believe God rewards, you won’t seek Him.
Luke 12:32 says:
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Common lies to watch for:
The cure: Believe God is no respecter of persons.
Acts 10:34-35 God is no respecter of persons...
James 5:16-18 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much...
God is no respecter of persons. What He does for others He will do for you.
